1. Information We Collect

We collect only the data needed to deliver our services:

  • Order data: billing details, handled by Creem as merchant of record. We never see your card number.
  • Usage data: aggregate page views, reported by Google Analytics 4. We have IP anonymisation switched on, run no advertising tags, and never build individual visitor profiles.
  • Voluntary data: anything you share with us via email or surveys.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To deliver products you purchase.
  • To send your receipt after a purchase.
  • To improve our content and product experience.

We never sell your data. Ever.

3. Cookies & Tracking

This site sets no cookies of its own. This is everything that is stored:

  • Local storage — your cookie-notice choice is saved in your browser, on your device, and is never sent to us.
  • Analytics cookies — we use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read and where visitors drop off. It sets _ga and _ga_PW5KCXNW9R, kept for up to 13 months. IP anonymisation is on. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland these cookies stay off until you press "Accept All", and pressing "Essential Only" keeps them off everywhere.
  • No advertising cookies from Facebook, Google Ads, or third-party ad networks.

To opt out without using the banner, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. You can also clear or block cookies anytime in your browser settings.

4. Sharing & Third Parties

We share data only with the vendors needed to operate the site:

  • Creem — merchant of record and payment processing.
  • Cloudflare — hosting and CDN.
  • Google Analytics — aggregate traffic measurement (see section 3).

Each vendor has its own privacy policy. We choose vendors with privacy-first practices.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of all data we hold on you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of any data we hold about you.
  • Withdraw consent for future contact at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@thechinesepath.com.

6. Data Security

We protect your data with industry-standard measures:

  • HTTPS encryption for all traffic.
  • Access is limited to the site's sole operator.

7. Children's Privacy

The Chinese Path is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us for immediate deletion.

8. Policy Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced via email (if you're a customer) and via a banner on the site. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision.

9. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

EEA / UK visitors (GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, export, or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. Email us to exercise any of these rights.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell your personal information. To submit a "Do Not Sell My Info" or deletion request, email privacy@thechinesepath.com with the subject line "CCPA Request" — we will respond within 45 days.
